Herrensauna is a Berlin-born artist collective that foregrounds the queer in-betweens and far-out fringes of music and nightlife. Founded in ’15 by Cem Duran (CEM) and Nicolas Endlicher (MCMLXXXV) as a genuine reaction to Berlin’s stale status quo, the collective is currently approaching its 10th year of creating and sustaining havens where anti-establishment sounds and visions get total freedom.

From its DIY heyday in the Bertram basement to its long-standing collaboration with Tresor and various international residencies, Herrensauna has evolved from a local staple to a globally recognised force. Both the collective and its individual members are widely credited for shaking up (and speeding up) electronic music’s pulse by going against the grain and laying out their own lane—one that never stops twisting and turning, and one that consistently defies categorisation.

Nearly a decade into its existence, Herrensauna counts seven residents, a record label with multiple releases, as well as fashion collaborations and ongoing partnerships in several metropoles. What remains entirely unchanged, however, is the way Herrensauna embodies a raw joy that simply cannot compromise or conform; still operating from the shadows rather than broadcasting from the rooftops, and still riding the storm that started it all.
